Liam Loftus, PhD
graduated from the National University of Ireland, Galway,
with a Ph.D. in protein biochemistry. Having joined the
Matsuoka Lab in February 2005 as a postdoctoral fellow, he
is currently researching the delivery of transductive tracer
proteins to the cells of the murine CNS. A variety of in
vivo delivery approaches have been employed, the most
successful being intranasal administration. Additional work
is being conducted on developing suitable solvent
combinations for delivery of small molecule BACE inhibitors.
These studies are part of the laboratory’s wider aim of
preventing or treating neurodegenerative diseases.
